Phuket’s southernmost point — go an hour before sunset for the best spot.

Promthep Cape (แหลมพรหมเทพ) is the southern tip of Phuket — a wind-swept headland looking out over the Andaman Sea. It’s the most popular sunset spot on the island, and for good reason: on a clear evening the sun drops behind the islands of Koh Kaeo and Koh Hi in a band of orange and pink.
Tips for a good visit
- Arrive 60–75 minutes before sunset. The viewpoint fills up fast and parking is limited.
- Walk down the headland trail. 90% of visitors stay at the lighthouse — the better photo spots are halfway down the path on the right.
- Stay for the after-sunset glow. The 20 minutes after the sun drops are often more colourful than the sunset itself.
- Bring water and a windbreaker. It can get breezy at the tip even on calm days.
Combine it with
Nai Harn Beach (10 minutes north) for a swim before sunset, or Windmill Viewpoint (5 minutes east) if Promthep is too crowded.
